TBW4e- SAP e-Academy SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence 7.0

OLAP or Online Analytical Processing is an approach to quickly provide the answer to analytical queries that are dimensional in nature. It is part of the broader category of business intelligence. Typical applications of OLAP are in business reporting for sales, marketing, management reporting, business process management or BPM, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, and other similar areas. OLTP or Online Transaction Processing is a class of programs that facilitate and manage transaction-oriented applications, typically for data entry and retrieval transaction processing. If you are using the transactions in the Logistics applications, the Logistics Information System (LIS) updates relevant information. You can also update information from other systems in the LIS. The LIS aggregates and stores this information in the data warehouse.
